School Rings: A Tradition Rooted to the Military
Oct 20, 2022
The tradition of wearing a school ring dates back to 1835 and has military roots. The first class rings were worn by those at the US Military Academy at West Point. It extended beyond the military as increasing numbers graduated from high school and then attending college. Wearing a class ring was a sign of accomplishment and a symbol of distinction among society.
The tradition continues at VFMAC and is an exciting day when the Josten’s representative arrives to show Cadets the offerings they may select to memorialize their education and achievement in the form of a class ring.
